I have been working on this documentary project for going on seven years now, following many solo roadtrips across the American South, staying in strangers' homes and documenting conversations along the way, with immigrants, musicians, and queer and abortion activists. Years later I go back and follow up with the same people, often filming on a Super 8 camera "home movie" style. Sometimes they film me too. Bodies change. Wars begin and end. Film is lost and then found. Fragments of songs are taught, relearned, and performed. This is not a documentary. It is a trans dance and a process of unremembering, undocumentating, undoing.
